The origins of Jank Music
Five University of Florida students changed the landscape of the Gainesville music scene by introducing a one-of-a-kind, live show backed by a unique sound — properly coined “Jank Music”. The 21st-century pop genre grew out of a group called Revival, which formed in 2000 as a blues band. By 2003, the drummer and creative director, Steve Douglas, created a distinct sound to identify, merge, and curate the group’s individual sounds as a collective. Revival was the first band to play this rare form of pop music. Today, Jank Music has inspired many, but Casely and The Jank continue to define the genre for global audiences with and through the compositions of its originator.

The "Jank Music" Museum Exhibit
in 2017 the St. Charles History Museum featured an exhibit entitled "Jank Music" which chronicled the history of the Jank genre, the artists who have performed it, and the development of #thejankguitarstore and The Jank Music Group in St. Charles, IL as a hub for Jank music and culture around the world.
